LANCO Awarded New Contract to Develop Automated Medical Device Testing System for a Global Market Leader
Lanco announced today it has been awarded a new contract by a globally recognized medical device company to design and build an automated, pallet-based test system that will support high-volume production by improving quality verification, traceability, and throughput. The project expands Lanco’s portfolio of precision automation solutions for regulated manufacturing environments.
The new system is designed to automate a sequence of mechanical and electrical verification steps commonly required for complex handheld medical devices. Parts will move through multiple test stations using Lanco’s pallet-based transport system, where the machine will locate each unit, verify status for traceability, execute repeatable test routines, and capture measurement data that can be associated to each unit to support digital recordkeeping and production analytics.
“This program reflects our commitment to helping medical device manufacturers scale with confidence,” said Barry Rahimian, Global VP of Sales at Lanco. “By combining robust fixturing, validated test methods, and reliable data capture in a safe, production-ready platform, we are delivering a system that supports both quality requirements and operational efficiency.”
Engineered for production reliability, the machine architecture emphasizes consistent part location, closed-loop measurement capture, and safe operator interaction. In the event of a nonconformance, the design supports station-level segregation and guided operator removal to help prevent downstream processing of rejected components, while keeping the overall line moving efficiently once the condition is cleared.
Medical device manufacturers increasingly require automation partners that can deliver reliable precision engineered solutions with a safety-first approach and supported by complete documentation for GAMP and Validation processes. Lanco will support the program from concept and design through build, integration, and validation support, aligning the solution with the customer’s manufacturing and quality systems while maintaining confidentiality. The company expects the program to improve repeatability, reduce manual handling, and provide faster feedback for process control, enabling the customer to scale production while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
