LANCO Awarded Contract to Build Automated Switch Testing System

Lanco announced today it has been awarded a contract to design and build an automated testing system supporting the production of electromechanical switches used in commercial, aviation, and transportation vehicle applications.

Lanco’s solution will integrate pallet-based part presentation with robotic handling to move components through multiple stages of verification. Product identification at the station level will be used to apply the appropriate tooling and test sequence for different switch variants, while automated transfer between test positions will reduce manual handling and help maintain repeatable positioning during evaluation.

The project is intended to strengthen process consistency and add traceability while increasing throughput in a production environment. The automated workflow will first complete electrical integrity testing before progressing parts into functional validation, with results captured at the component level to support quality documentation and batch completion requirements.

“Switches used across transportation and industrial equipment have little room for variability,” said Barry Rahimian, Global VP at Lanco. “This system is being designed to bring rigor and stable structure to the test process, including repeatable handling, controlled sequencing, and clear records, without introducing complexity that makes equipment difficult to operate and maintain.”

This project adds to Lanco’s portfolio of automation systems for manufacturers serving aviation transportation and industrial markets, where reliability, documentation, and repeatability are essential.
