A Westbrook manufacturer announces succession plan for CEO position

Lanco Integrated, a Westbrook business-to-business manufacturer, said Wednesday that its longtime CEO plans to retire.
Ed Karabec had hoped to step down earlier but the pandemic changed that plan.
Now, with the announcement this week, Lanco’s board of directors has named Karabec’s successor, Bob Kuniega, who will start Aug. 31.
“I am proud, honored and grateful to have been able to be part of this great company, from its infancy over 30 years ago, to its status today, as a premier multi-national supplier of advanced automation systems,” said Karabec.
“It has been my pleasure to have been able to work with an exceptional group of talented people throughout my tenure at Lanco. There is an experienced and focused management team in place to see Lanco through this transition, and well into the future. I am confident that Bob will fit in well and has the full support of the entire team,” Karabec added. Lanco designs and makes machines and test systems used by manufacturers in sectors including automotive and medical. In a company profile in 2019, the company said it had 360 employees, including about 185 in Westbrook.
